About Andrea. My journey through loss, healing, and hope, and how it led to Your Grief Solution.

Get to know Your Grief Solution

Hello and welcome! I’m Andrea Davis, Certified Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist™, trained and certified through the Grief Recovery Institute®. My educational course uses the Grief Recovery Method to help you find a clear path to heal your heart and live a happier more joyful life.

My own story

Your Grief Solution was born out of my own loss

My grief journey began in 2007 when my husband, Dave, was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure from IgA nephropathy at just 37. Facing an eight-year transplant waitlist, he needed a kidney or would have to remain on lifelong dialysis. A year later, I donated my kidney to him, but his body rejected it, leaving him dependent on dialysis; another loss for our family. Over the next 12 years, we endured more than 50 hospital visits and surgeries, lost income, and ongoing heartbreak. In 2019 I endured yet another loss, my mother passed away and just eight months later, Dave passed away due to complications of kidney disease.

I thought I was managing my grief, but I was hiding much of my pain. Through the Grief Recovery Method® (GRM), I found practical tools to address that pain and begin healing. The action-based program helped me discover a new purpose: supporting others through grief in honor of Dave and my mom. Having experienced the program myself, I hope to guide you through it too by helping you address the unfinished emotions surrounding your losses, whether from death, divorce, lost friendships, job loss, or other significant life changes.

The method

What is the Grief Recovery Method®?

The Grief Recovery Method® (GRM) is a structured, action-oriented approach designed to help individuals deal with the emotional pain and effects of grief. It was developed by John W. James and Russell Friedman, founders of The Grief Recovery Institute®.

Acknowledgment of loss

Recognizing and acknowledging the various losses in one’s life, not just death but also divorce, job loss or major life changes.

Understanding grief

Education about the common myths and misconceptions surrounding grief, for a more accurate understanding of the grieving process.

Exploring unresolved emotions

Identifying and exploring incomplete or unresolved emotional aspects of the loss, and encouraging the expression of true feelings.

Completion & action steps

Specific, action-oriented steps to complete unfinished business through communication, forgiveness and other actions. This may include writing a “Grief Letter.”

A new relationship with the deceased

Shifting the focus from pain and loss to positive memories, establishing a new, healthy relationship with the person or thing you have lost.

Support system

Encouraging you to share your feelings and experiences with a supportive network, whether friends, family or a Grief Recovery Specialist.

The Grief Recovery Method® provides practical tools and a structured process to work through grief toward emotional healing and recovery. It emphasizes active steps to address the emotional impact of loss, and it helps participants reclaim the ability to live a fulfilling life.
