What You May Be Wondering

Find helpful answers about the Grief Recovery Method®, available courses, scheduling, and what to expect as you begin your journey.

What is the difference between The Grief Recovery Method® and other support groups?

Many grief support groups offer a space to share feelings and experiences. The Grief Recovery Method combines compassionate listening with a structured educational program, a set beginning and end, and specific action steps to address unresolved feelings related to loss. Participants are welcome regardless of the type of loss they have experienced.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time.

What types of losses can I work on?

Together we will identify which loss to focus on during the program. The third step in the program examines all past losses and prioritizes which one to address first. Grief is cumulative, and each new loss often brings up memories of earlier ones, so people tend to try to address several losses at once. Focusing on one loss at a time lets you complete the necessary work, which makes it easier to address the others afterward.

Do I need to attend every session?

Yes. It is important that each participant can commit to all the weeks as required by each course. While an absence is sometimes unavoidable, missing a session will affect your experience of recovery. You will need to reschedule the missed class and could incur a $25 fee for each missed class.

Do you offer refunds for the course if I’m not “recovered”?

Refunds are not offered. If an emergency arises and you are unable to complete the program, I will hold your spot for up to 6 months from your start date so you can finish. *Please understand that recovery does not happen overnight: you will feel and see the results of the program over time, whether over weeks, months, or years.

Do you offer any other courses?

Yes. I also offer a 4-week Alumni Course, a Pet Loss Course, Local Group Courses, and a Helping Children with Loss Course. I also offer After Care Coaching calls once you have completed a program, and you can add a $25 follow-up call when you enroll in any class. All programs can be found on the Courses page, and Andrea’s workbook and journal are on the Books page.

How do I schedule my course?

First, I recommend a free Zoom discovery call with Andrea, a quick “get to know you” call to make sure this program is a good fit. Once you have purchased your program, you will receive email instructions with next steps.

How does checkout work and how do I receive my workbook?

Add a course or the Pathways Through Grief digital workbook to your cart and complete the secure checkout. Digital workbooks are delivered to the email address you provide. For courses, Andrea will email you to schedule your first session and ship any included book before class begins. Printed books, including the paperback workbook, the Remembering With Love journal and David Gets A Kidney, are sold on Amazon: the “Click to purchase” buttons on the Books page take you straight there.

Is this therapy or counseling?

No. These courses are educational. They are not therapy, counseling, or a “drop-in” support group. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
